Hello February !! I was tuned in to the radio on my way to work this morning and on the show people were discussing how February was the month of love and income tax saving as the financial year is about to end! Yes it is a unique topic but a lot of people were able to relate. They were worried how can Valentine’s day be made special without burning a hole in the pocket. I personally think that it is quite simple if you wish to make the day special for the people you love. A bit of personal touch can do wonders. So, I have decided that all my posts till this February 14th will be centered around easy DIY ideas to make the day special for you and your loved ones.

2 days back I shared the recipe of ‘Love Toast’ – an oozzyy breakfast option to make your sweetheart feel special. You can find the recipe here.

This next one is about ‘Chocolate Chips Cookie Hearts’. I used the microwave to do the baking so you can try it at home even when you don’t have an oven!

Ingredients (Yields : 12 big size cookies / 18 medium size cookies)

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • large egg
  • Chocolate chips
  • Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter

Procedure:

Step 1: Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, br
own sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add the egg and beat well. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and knead. Refrigerate for about half an hour covered in a thin plastic film.

Step 2: divide the dough in 4 parts. Roll 1 at a time keeping it between sheets of butter paper to 1/4th of an inch thickness. Cut out the hearts using the cookie cutter. I made 2 different sizes.

Step 3: Line the tray with a butter paper, arrange the heart shaped cut outs and bake at 160 degrees for 20-22 minutes (I used convection mode of an IFB microwave).

Hope you will enjoy this Chocolate Romance !
